I recommend Little Snitch often. It’s great for blocking sleazy ad servers or just being generally informative about networking statistics. It also has some great tools for troubleshooting. Here’s the activity monitor that shows network traffic and application launch events.
Select an application from the list to see when it was performing network operations:

I did not know I could put a pdf in a note. It’s no Pastebot, but it receives updates1 and works natively on my iPad.
Unfortunately iCloud syncing doesn’t work so well with image attachments. I just get a brown paper clip instead of the image. The image is still there on the Mac, but not accessible on iOS.
I’ll probably just keep using this Messages trick.
The Tweetbot page actually still says “iOS 4 Ready”.
FoldingText is maturing rapidly. It’s already amazing for people that love plain text and efficiency. My only complaint is that it’s not on every computing device I need to use.
The new web site now has screenshots and screencasts.
Now that I am some sort of “podcaster” I’m realizing how annoying it is to record through Skype on a Mac. Skype is offended by every other application. It’s like a jealous wife insisting on being the the only application in my life. To accommodate Skype’s temper tantrum’s I’ve created several macros to prepare for a recording session. I’ve already written about my Keyboard Maestro macro to toggle the audio input and output devices.
Gus Mueller moved the Acorn plugins to Github. Fork-away all ye Acorn lovers.
I thought I was alone when it came to my extreme annoyance at how Twitterrific copies links to Tweets. That is, until the latest Hypercritical After Dark. Cap’n Siracusa complained about the same thing. Twitterrific copies tweet links as plists.
Copies as this:
:::xml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <string>http://twitter.com/hotdogsladies/status/245307897628729344</string> </plist> So here’s my macro that fixes the nonsensical way Twitterrific copies tweet links:
These posts make me both happy and sad.
The OmniGroup Celebrates 20 years
The Founding of OmniGroup
I’m happy for the success of the OmniGroup because they do good work and have succeeded because of it.
I’m sad because Wil Shipley had to set the record straight. I honestly do not think OmniGroup would exist today without Wil’s contribution and both the first press and update to the blog post did not do him justice.
I completely agree with Clark on this one. I love Pixelmator but Graphic Converter is really powerful. I just came back to it after many years away.
I love watching a professional use a tool of their trade. I use Omnigraffle all the time. This Method and Craft video makes me think that I’ve been using my screwdriver as a hammer and just watched a real carpenter work.
Gus Mueller gives a glimpse into the future of VoodooPad 5.1 and I like it. VoodooPad will be a suitable engine for generating a static Web site from MultiMarkdown. The static blog generator plugin for VoodooPad is open source and available on GitHub.
