DiskWarrior 5 Available Link

In my experience, there’s nothing like DiskWarrior for repairing a damaged disk. It’s like a fire extinguisher, you may never need it but when you do, you’d pay almost anything to have it next to you. The new version ships on a USB disk (finally) and is also updated for the latest OS. Interestingly, it will also now repair TimeMachine disks. DiskWarrior is a professional tool (I’ve seen it used at the Genius Bar many times) and the price reflects that.

Bourbon County Stout and Moral Choices Link

This weekend’s Nerds on Draft is full of moral dilemmas and delicious beer. Jeff and I slowly sip Goose Island’s 2014 Bourbon County Stout and discuss the controversy of good companies being bought by “bad” companies and our own motivations for moral lines in the sand. Lots of navel gazing but with one of the best stouts you can drink this year.

America's Worst Charities Link

Tampa Bay Times did a spectacular job explaining with one table, why I don’t cold-donate. I never donate at movie theaters or grocery stores unless it’s a charity I know well. I do research on Charity Navigator and online. I think I’m a fairly charitable person. I also think the world is full of contrasts. I donate to people that have earned my trust. I try to avoid all the shysters.

DevonTechnologies 25 Off Sale Link

Here’s another piece of software I really like that’s also on sale: DEVONthink. The discount covers all versions, on up to Office Pro.

Last Day of ChronoSync 25 Off Sale Link

ChronoSync is 25% off but the sale ends today. It’s one of the best ways to do intelligent and selective backups. I’ve used it for many years and it’s been like a rock.

OmniFocus Video Field Guide Link

David Sparks makes some of the best eBooks and now he’s branching out into video. His first video-only Field Guide is pretty fantastic if you use OmniFocus or you’re considering it. $10 is a deal for 2 hours of professional level training for an app as complicated as OmniFocus. Here’s a sample on Vimeo.

FastMail Advent Indexing

If you’ve ever been interested in how an email service makes the magic happen, FastMail is doing a series of posts starting today that are pretty great. The first post is all about how they index email for searching. It’s technical and confusing but that describes most of the stuff I like.

Time Sensitive OS X Shell Tricks Video Course on Sale Link

I’ve been plowing through Brett Terpstra’s OS X Shell Tricks over at Mijingo and they are great. Now I find out they are on sale for 50% off and the sale ends today (Sunday, November 30th) In fact, everything is on sale over there. I’m going to be picking up the PIP and virtualenv video course for sure. The Command Line Bundle is pretty nice for $20 and includes the Brett’s video course.

Delight is in the Details For the Holidays Sponsor

Thanks again to Shawn Blanc for sponsoring a week of writing on Macdrifter. If you’re getting some down time for the holidays I’d suggest picking up Design is in the Details while it’s on sale. It’s a great collection of inspiration if you make stuff or if you just like thoughtful products. It sure would be a nice diversion during a long flight.

Ida's Red Dream Link

Monument Valley is right up my alley (they’ll just have to run with that as a slogan). The puzzles are quick but challenging and it’s easy to drop in and out. I was surprised that their Project Red update for the App Store provided an option to purchase more puzzles for only $1. Sure, 100% of the purchase price goes to the Project Red charity. Equally important it’s new Monument Valley.
