An in-depth look at the pathetic state of banking data exchange. Ok, the post is great and there's some nice tricks in it. It's just a shame that so much hacking is required to do banking. It's my understanding that the least likely way to have your account compromised is by someone directly hacking access through the bank portal. It's more likely to come from insecure credit card storage by a Sony service.

Mac OS X Lion with CSS3:
Imagine the OS X Lion experience recreated in CSS3. That’s just what Alessio Atzeni has done, and it’s crazy detailed. Neat stuff to pick apart!

Dr.Drang tells the story of a Mac clone that was in service from 1995 until 2012 (if you haven't had your coffee yet, that's 17 years). Who says that knock-offs have to be cheap?
All of the cool kids are using Day One in some really interesting ways. There's Brett, who is using it to leave himself a bread-crumb trail of things he works on. Now there's this great example from Stephen Hargrove on Spirit of Nine for archiving blog posts to Day One.
Ok, I'm sold. I just bought the Mac and iOS versions to see what fits with my workflow. It's a relatively inexpensive experiment.
Select some text on a web page and right click and create a new note in NVAlt.
The new note is added in the background and the URL is included as meta data.
Copy a URL and switch back to NVAlt. Hit shift-cmd-V to paste as a new note.
The source is downloaded into a new note and Markdown-ified.
So yeah, pretty crazy awesome application that they make for free.
I have a Das Keyboard. It's one of the best feeling keyboards I've ever used. But I had to stop using it because it was so loud. Be aware. It is very loud. Unless you work in an isolated environment a co-worker will attempt to bludgeon you with your Das Keyboard. They do make a silent version of the PC keyboard. I didn't see a listing for a silent Mac version
Ry in the comments pointed out that ReadNow (one of my favorites) has been pulled from the MAS by its developer due to an infringement complaint. Let me guess, the word "Read" is copyright by some troll. That's too bad. It's a great application that receives a lot of love and attention from its developer.
Thanks Ry.
Dan Rodney has a very good collection of Mac shortcuts and tips. The site also has a Mac OS X design. It’s a great one-stop-shop resource.
Very interesting estimates of OS adoption and hardware specifications from the OmniGroup. It looks like Lion adoption is at the cost of Snow Leopard but not Tiger and Leopard. Makes sense to me. If they couldn't upgrade to Snow Leopard then Lion was out of the question.
There are plenty of good reasons to be eagerly awaiting a stable release of Textmate 2 but there are also equally valid reasons to avoid it. I’ve used both but I’ve never been an expert at either. I’ve used them for small personal projects but nothing that would exercise all of the features. For web development, I use Coda, for python scripts, I use BBEdit and now CodeRunner. Most of my writing for this site is done between Simplenote, NVAlt and MultiMarkdown Composer.
