Zissou is a very nice color scheme for Sublime Text and Text Mate.

Very Funny. Isn’t it fun redesigning an OS without having to worry about the implementation at all?
From Randall Armor on cellphone photography versus classic photography:
“You’re an idiot” she said. “And I’m not one of your students, so don’t even start. That’s a cool shot. It’s two-thousand-freaking-thirteen, old man. Who cares how I made it?”
This is a great piece. I tend to hate all of these over-processed images. I honestly believe that for the vast majority of photos, the filters are a net negative.
Max Masnick has a great review of moving to FastMail from GMail. I’m moving from, well, a bunch of stuff to one consolidated email account. I like the FastMail search options and web interface. But really, Max sold me.
I used Marco’s: http://www.fastmail.fm/?STKI=1335305, which means he made $6. Referral links are just one bonus of using FastMail so far.
Here’s my referral link if you want to give me some modest credit: http://www.
Possibly the best incident report of 2013
You have to feel for someone when this is the best part of their night:
Hall took his few possessions and moved out of his fiancée’s home and into a tree at Mclaren Park.
Andreas has started a nice little series of MindNode tips. They are short and sweet and very useful. What’s not to like?
Alt is a an alternative interface to NewsBlur. It’s very reminiscent of Google Reader. It’s compact and efficient. I still love the NewsBlur filtering options. I never spent less time reading news than I do now with NewsBlur. That’s a compliment.
You can check out Alt for free on their demo page

Chris Brecheen:
The real antagonist may have been society, but our personification of it was well cast. He had a sort of Christian Bale look about him, if Christian Bale were playing a role of a douchecanoe. Revisionist memory is always suspect, but I’m telling this story, and I’m going to stand by the fact that I thought he looked like a creepy guy long before he started acting like one.
Digg is back from the brink and better than ever (in my opinion). They’ve done a really good job with the transition to a full service news outlet. The RSS reader is extremely fast. Definitely worth a look if you are in the market for a Google Reader replacement.
Digg (yes, that Digg) has released a new RSS Reader for the web, iPhone, and iPad (Android coming soon). The design is sleek and clean, and the apps are speedy and efficient.
I use Backblaze every day. It’s great and does what it should. I’ve restored files that I thought were gone and I’ll never go without it. They didn’t need to sponsor this site for me to recommend them, but it sure is nice that they are.
1 in 2 computer users lose data every year. Back up all your data with Backblaze online backup. It’s unlimited, unthrottled, uncomplicated, and unexpensive.
