Romantimatic Affection and Intentions

Greg Knauss released Romantimatic last week and received a surprisng amount of indignation. I understand the need to draw conclusions about the intentions of others from our own internal dialogs, but it’s always surprising how far people take it.

I like Romantimatic. It’s a reminder system for sending kind little notes to the person I care about. It’s similar to birthday reminders in a calendar, but more intimate and focused on one single “sweetheart”.

It’s a simple app with limited use. You get to choose one person and the preferred contact. But there’s a large variety of pre-populated messages to send.

After setting the frequency you’ll get a reminder on your iPhone and an app badge. Open the app to send the message or snooze the alert.

This is something I’ve done with the Reminders.app on iOS and Mac but it’s more specific. I have reminders to send my friends check-in emails or texts. I’ve never felt, not even once, that this was somehow tainting my intentions. But, even Greg throws in a little tip.
