Traffic

Yeah, more blogging about blogging.

I don't really know much about web traffic stats.1 I do know that with each passing month Macdrifter.com appears to have more engagement and some really interesting and talented people emailing me just to say hi. Here's my take on the month over month change of visitors to this site:

I don't post links to Hacker News, Digg (ha), or any other news aggregator. I post to Twitter, because people I like hang out there. Total unique visitors are meaningless to me. What I care about is the difference between total uniques and the total. That is the number of people that return to the site. That's the group that has something intelligent to say and that I appreciate hearing from.

I feel like I'm doing it right when that part keeps getting bigger. It's all about deciding what metrics I care about.

  1. I know Mint is easy to use (except for RSS stats) but AWStats are way more interesting and accurate.
