Stale Mail Rules

Since migrating to Lion, I’ve noticed several of my Mail rules fail to run. I have a number of rules that tag and move incoming messages. Rather than waste time trying to figure out why the rules do not run properly, I just setup a scheduled Keyboard Maestro macro that runs the rules for me. So far, this seems to solve the problem.

  1. I’ve been doing almost the same thing http://d.pr/V388

I set it up to force run a rule on notes found in the inbox (notes created via Siri are copied over to NV/Simplenote), but has a problem working if there isn’t an email or note selected in the inbox. If no message or note is selected in Mail if I press the up arrow it will select a message (and it will make rules run successfully), but when adding the keystroke in Keyboard Maestro it doesn’t seem to work reliably.

Any ideas on a better way of making sure it selects a note or email in the inbox so that rules are run (reliably) on them?
